The Power of Taugeh (Bean Sprout)

Celine Dion

Adding taugeh (taugeh = bean sprout) in Char Kway Teow means "saliva dripping!" The crunchy sound from fresh taugeh plus a tasty gravy with a fresh prawn uhh.. heaven! You should try once. Especially the gravy Char Kway Teow. Superb! Anyway, this post is not about Char Kway Teow, it's all about the taugeh. I saw that some of Malaysian people out there doesn't like it and I don't know what are their reasons. Some "otai"(old people) mention to me that taugeh are good for men and women health. For men, it can produced your sperm better and for women it is an effective ways to help the fertility of eggs produced. Amazing! Some research has shown that taugeh can also disable seed cancer, large intestine, pancreas and also treatment for leukemia. Not only that, it also contain natural estrogen that can increase bone power, and prevent bone fragility. Ha...jaw dropping? This is just some of the benefits. You can try Google for further info. A lot of health benefit for this beans. The nutritional value of fresh taugeh is excellent and that is why we need to maintain the freshness. I have a "petua" on how to maintain it. Add the taugeh into a bowl filled with water then squeeze some lime juice and mix all together. The taugeh will become fresh for several day but make sure you change the water every day. Give it a try.
